Traveling Plant & Operations Maintenance Director

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans, administers, and directs all activities related to facility maintenance and engineering services across assigned healthcare accounts, ensuring compliance with Aramark Healthcare standards, regulatory agencies, and client requirements
  • Rapidly assesses operational performance in vacant, troubled, or transitional accounts and implements corrective action plans to stabilize safety, compliance, financial performance, and patient satisfaction
  • Drives adherence to Aramark operating program standards, preventive maintenance programs, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Ensures compliance with Joint Commission, safety, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulatory standards
  • Serves as the primary client-facing leader for plant operations, maintaining strong relationships with hospital leadership through visible presence, communication, and rounding
  • Leads, mentors, and manages Facility and Maintenance Supervisors and front-line employees, ensuring engagement, development, accountability, and compliance with HR policies
  • Oversees vendor management, including service contracts, performance monitoring, and cost controls
  • Develops operational forecasts, manages component accounting functions, supports capital budget planning, and explains financial variances
  • Ensures consistent utilization of ISIS Pro and related systems to manage preventive maintenance and operational performance
  • Identifies opportunities for operational improvement, service recovery, and potential Aramark service expansion
  • Demonstrates flexibility, resilience, and independent judgment in a high-travel role, including managing short-notice deployments and travel disruptions

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of healthcare plant operations or facilities maintenance leadership experience in acute care or large, complex facilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, including Joint Commission standards
  • Proven ability to lead teams through change, operational instability, or leadership gaps
  • Demonstrated financial accountability, including P&L responsibility
  • Strong working knowledge of preventive maintenance and building systems, including HVAC/R, boilers, chillers, generators, and life safety systems
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent technical experience (preferred)
  • Applicable licenses for heating, piping, and cooling systems (e.g., S-1, S-2) (preferred)
  • Experience supporting multiple sites or serving in regional, interim, or turnaround leadership roles
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with experience engaging executive-level clients
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Ability to travel 100% and operate independently across multiple accounts
  • Must reside within reasonable proximity to a major airport
