Traveling NDT Technician
About the role
This position involves 100% travel throughout Texas to work on multiple high-profile projects such as transportation, commercial buildings, wind farms, and more. It offers an opportunity for someone who enjoys traveling, working on various high-profile projects, and looking to advance their construction material testing career.
Responsibilities
- Perform field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g. soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
- Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative and others as applicable regarding the construction site, project requirements, and testing, observation, and inspection requirements and results.
- Transport material samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis.
- Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports as work is performed for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas.
- May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
- Documented on-the-job experience hours for inspection services (via employer verification or personal log).
- Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
Qualifications
- Documented classroom training for ASNT Level II in:
- - Visual Testing (VT)
- - Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- - Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
- - Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Supporting documentation of certification, including:
- - Employer-issued certification records with dates and methods, or
- - A detailed log of inspection experience and hours
- Candidates meeting these criteria will be required to successfully complete internal ASNT Level II examinations and obtain final certification approval from our Level III.
Skills
- ASNT Level II certifications in multiple methods (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT)
- NICET Level II (Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical)
- ICC certifications (Structural Steel, Concrete, Masonry, etc.)
- Other relevant materials testing certifications

Pay
The national standard salary range for this position is $19.50-$27.50. The base range may be adjusted based on the specific location of the applicant. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
Schedule
This position is a "Remote Only" position, meaning employees do not have a designated workspace at an office and typically work from home or another location.
