Traveling Commercial Construction Superintendent

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Commercial Construction Superintendent to oversee the construction of new commercial projects, including Automotive Service Facilities. This role is responsible for the daily management of the job site, including scheduling, production, procurement, subcontractor coordination, quality control, safety, and project execution. The Superintendent will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan construction procedures based on project specifications, schedules, staffing, and available resources.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop project schedules and maintain look-ahead schedules.
  • Cook up pre-construction meetings prior to project mobilization.
  • Direct procurement of materials, tools, equipment, and manpower according to project schedules.
  • Cook up and supervise subcontractors throughout each phase of construction.
  • Conduct regular meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to communicate project progress and resolve issues.
  • Work with engineers, inspectors, suppliers, and supervisory personnel to resolve construction challenges.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with project specifications, schedules, and quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress, materials, costs, and productivity, making schedule adjustments as needed.
  • Aid the Project Manager in preparing and executing the Project Management Plan.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, quality standards, housekeeping requirements, inspections, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform additional project-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing Ground-Up Commercial Construction projects from start to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of construction testing requirements, inspection processes, and project scheduling.
  • Experience coordinating all on-site construction activities, subcontractors, and project logistics.
  • Experience with Petroleum construction projects.
  • Experience with Convenience Store (C-Store) construction projects.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, iPads, and construction technology.
  • Knowledge of subcontractor scopes of work and construction tolerances.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building Automotive Service Facilities.
  • Basic Spanish language skills.
  • Experience coordinating large commercial subcontractor teams.

Client Expectations (Must-Haves)

  • Experienced Commercial Construction Traveling Superintendent.
  • Ground-Up Commercial Construction experience from project start through completion is REQUIRED.
  • Strong understanding of construction testing requirements and inspection processes.
  • Strong project scheduling and overall site coordination experience.
  • Proficient with iPads and construction management technology.
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
