About the Role
Cissell Mueller Construction, Inc. is seeking a high-caliber, autonomous Traveling Superintendent to command and oversee complex commercial construction projects throughout the Texas market. As a senior-level field commander, you will serve as the absolute on-site authority, working closely with Project Managers, owners, municipal inspectors, and multi-tier subcontractors while providing strategic leadership across all construction disciplines. This position is engineered exclusively for a seasoned commercial construction professional ready to take total ownership of larger, more complex ground-up projects and drive consistent success.

Responsibilities
- Complete Field Operations Command: Direct, manage, and sequence all daily on-site field operations, coordinating subcontractors, trade labor, and material vendors to maintain aggressive project timelines.
- Field Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as the senior on-site representative, leading, mentoring, and supporting assistant superintendents, field engineers, and layout staff.
- Critical Path Management: Develop, maintain, and enforce detailed short-term and long-term project schedules, proactively identifying critical path activities and major milestones.
- Multi-Discipline Coordination: Masterfully align all construction disciplines, including heavy civil sitework, structural framing, architectural finishes, electrical, mechanical, plumbing (MEP), and commercial roofing systems.
- Subcontractor Performance Enforcement: Manage subcontractor execution, including precision scheduling, trade sequencing, quality control auditing, and real-time conflict resolution.
- Logistics & Staging Architecture: Oversee complete site logistics, material deliveries, secure staging layouts, and resource allocation to maximize jobsite efficiency.
- Fiscal Budget Awareness: Partner directly with corporate Project Managers on budget maintenance, cost controls, material yields, and change order coordination.
- Engineering Document Verification: Review and interpret complex construction drawings, architectural plans, structural details, and technical specifications to ensure absolute building compliance.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Lead comprehensive jobsite safety efforts, including mandatory toolbox talks, weekly safety meetings, and strict OSHA compliance tracking.
Requirements
- Superintendent Tenure: 5+ years of verified professional experience managing commercial construction projects as a Lead Superintendent or Senior Superintendent.
- Portfolio Verification: Proven ability to lead large, multi-trade commercial construction jobs, with a strong background in civil site work and full ground-up construction methodologies.
- Trade Scopes Familiarity: Direct experience managing fuel-related construction, travel centers, convenience stores, or restaurant projects is highly preferred.
- Logistics & Scheduling Command: Strong understanding of construction scheduling logic, trade sequencing, sub-trade negotiations, and site logistics.
- Blueprint Literacy: Expert ability to read, interpret, and build directly from complex blueprints, specifications, engineering details, and contract documents.
- Mobility & Travel Flexibility: Complete willingness and capability to travel to out-of-town project deployments throughout Texas (including East Texas/Longview, West Texas/El Paso, and South Texas/Edinburg-McAllen metro).
Preferred Qualifications
- An active OSHA 30 Construction Safety Certification (company-paid training is available if needed).
- Bilingual verbal and written communication capabilities (English/Spanish) are a major plus.
- Excellent electronic communication skills and functional comfort with mobile construction tracking technology.
Pay
Base Salary: $95,000.00 – $105,000.00+ per year (based on experience)
Incentives: High-Yield Performance Bonus Potential + Elite Travel & Mobility Allowance Package
Schedule
Monday – Friday (45–50 hours per week; occasional weekends required based on project milestones)
