Responsibilities
- Aid in developing the project safety program.
- Conduct and document jobsite orientations for new project employees.
- Record participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation.
- Attend initial meetings with project staff and subcontractor representatives to define roles within the safety program.
- Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures.
- Administer and document regular safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and project staff.
- Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure compliance with OSHA and Concrete Strategies standards.
- Maintain a log of subcontractor toolbox safety meetings.
- Review subcontractor safety programs to ensure they meet or exceed project safety program requirements.
- Ensure each subcontractor designates a safety representative with proper training and authority.
- Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections, noting safety violations and corrective actions.
- Complete safety checklists and prepare written reports of violations or unsafe practices.
- Notify subcontractors of violations and unsafe practices for immediate correction.
- Stop any violations or unsafe acts or practices immediately.
- Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
- Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
- Maintain all required safety records.
- Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualifications
- Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- At least 3 years of safety experience or a combination of education and multiple years of experience in building construction.
- A working knowledge of safety and environmental principles and techniques.
- OSHA 30-hour construction accreditation.
- OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer certification is a plus.
- Familiarity with computer skills and Microsoft Office.
