About the role

The Surgical Tech, WakeMed Travel Staffing is an allied health professional who is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical care to a variety of patient populations. Functions under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Applies sterile and aseptic technique that combines the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation of tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the operating room environment is safe and equipment functions properly.
• Apply sterile and aseptic techniques in surgical procedures.
• Assist in facilitating invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures under supervision.
• Work across WakeMed locations to provide quality patient care.

Requirements

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or equivalent military training required.
• 1 year of clinical experience as a Surgical Technician required.
