Speech Language Pathologists (SLPs) play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in long-term care settings. The primary responsibilities include developing individualized treatment plans aimed at improving swallowing, cognitive skills, and communication abilities while minimizing the risk of aspiration.
Responsibilities
- Creating and implementing effective treatment plans for communication and swallowing disorders.
- Employing various techniques to enhance residents' understanding and expression in communication.
- Leading, guiding, and directing the delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Ensuring adherence to established facility policies and procedures to provide optimal care to all residents.
