About the role

The position involves providing instruction to students with mild/moderate disabilities in a school setting. The teacher will work closely with other educators, parents, and administrators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).

Responsibilities

  • Teach academic subjects tailored to the needs of students with mild/moderate disabilities.
  • Develop and implement IEPs to meet the unique educational goals of each student.
  • Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure a comprehensive educational program.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
  • Participate in parent conferences and communicate regularly with families about their child’s progress and needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in special education or a related field.
  • Valid state special education teaching certification.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with students with mild/moderate disabilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in using assistive technology and accommodations.
  • Effective classroom management skills.
