About the role
The position involves providing instruction to students with mild/moderate disabilities in a school setting. The teacher will work closely with other educators, parents, and administrators to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
Responsibilities
- Teach academic subjects tailored to the needs of students with mild/moderate disabilities.
- Develop and implement IEPs to meet the unique educational goals of each student.
- Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and related service providers to ensure a comprehensive educational program.
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
- Participate in parent conferences and communicate regularly with families about their child’s progress and needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in special education or a related field.
- Valid state special education teaching certification.
Qualifications
- Experience working with students with mild/moderate disabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Skills
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in using assistive technology and accommodations.
- Effective classroom management skills.
