Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Pediatric (RT PEDS) specialty position in Newport News, Virginia. This role involves providing comprehensive respiratory care to pediatric patients, including operating ventilatory equipment, performing procedures, and monitoring patient responses within a hospital setting. The Respiratory Therapist will work under minimal supervision to deliver high-quality patient care, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and collaborate with physicians.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Certifications in respiratory therapy
- Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist
- Graduation from an accredited program
- Valid state license in Virginia
- 1 year of clinical experience in respiratory therapy
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric experience
- Proficiency with arterial puncture and advanced airway management
- Strong knowledge of pulmonary function testing
- BLS and ACLS certification
Additional Information
- Perform treatments such as ventilatory support, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and airway management
- Monitor vital signs, conduct diagnostic tests, assist with procedures like bronchoscopy and chest tube placement
- Maintain accurate documentation
- Communicate with physicians regarding therapy effectiveness
- Self-test and operate ventilatory equipment
- Maintain routine maintenance and troubleshoot ventilatory equipment
