About the role
Inpatient newborn care in a hospital-level environment within a travel assignment. This role involves providing direct nursing care to newborns, supporting mother/baby couplet care, and floating to initial needs as required by the unit.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct newborn nursing care, including vitals monitoring, feeding support, jaundice screening, and routine newborn assessments
- Support mother/baby couplet care on the unit, floating to initial needs and adjusting to unit requirements
- Administer medications and vaccines per orders; ensure accurate documentation and charting in the EMR (EPIC)
- Collaborate with obstetric, neonatal, lactation, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and participate in rounds
- Respond promptly to changes in patient status, escalating per unit protocols and ensuring patient safety
- Maintain professional standards for infection prevention, patient privacy, and family-centered care; adapt to rotating day/night coverage
Requirements
- Active RN license in Vermont
- Certifications: NRP and BLS required; ACLS preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in newborn/OB specialty nursing
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 2 years
- Prior work in a large (500+ bed) facility or teaching environment
- RN degree from an accredited nursing program
- Ability to work in an inpatient newborn care setting with rotating day/night shifts and fulfill travel assignment requirements
Pay
Weekly pay: $2,410–$2,495 per week. Guaranteed hours: 0.
Schedule
Shift: 3x12-hour rotating.
