Overview
Registered Nurse – First Assist traveling assignment in Templeton, California. Start date: 08/17/2026. Duration: 8 weeks. Weekly pay: $2,926–$3,000 per week. Guaranteed hours: 40 per week. Responsibilities
- Provide intraoperative nursing care as the First Assist, including exposure, retraction, hemostasis, tissue handling, and suturing under the surgeon’s direction
- Collaborate with the surgical team to prepare the operative environment, stage instruments, and maintain sterile technique throughout procedures
- Monitor patient status intraoperatively, document events in the electronic health record, and communicate changes to the team
- Assist with patient positioning, anesthesia-related needs, specimen handling, and ensuring overall patient safety during operations
- Adhere to hospital policies, sterile processing standards, and perioperative protocols; participate in post-op transitions and documentation as required
Requirements
- Current, active RN license in the state of assignment (California)
- Certification: BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- Experience: At least two years of recent perioperative nursing experience in a First Assist role or equivalent surgical setting
- Epic EHR experience required; must demonstrate prior Epic usage
- Ability to work in a fast-paced short-term acute care environment and function within a collaborative surgical team
