About the role

Travel position in Snellville, Georgia. 40 hours per week, 10-hour day shifts. Employment type: Travel. Minimum 2 years of experience required; first-time travelers not accepted. Patient population: Adults to Geriatrics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic cardiac catheterization procedures including diagnostic cath, PCI, orbital atherectomy, IABP, Impella, and device implants (no EP studies or ablations)
  • Obtain and interpret vital signs and cardiac rhythms (sinus node rhythms required; pacemaker experience preferred)
  • Operate and maintain specialized equipment: GE Discovery, IABP, Impella, CSIR
  • Scrub and maintain sterile field
  • Monitor and document hemodynamic status
  • Perform EKG lead placement and rhythm interpretation
  • Assist with procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, temporary pacemaker insertion, and cardioversion
  • Float within the department and facility, including potential assignment to sister campus Piedmont Eastside South
  • Take call (10 call days per month) and work holidays as specified

Requirements

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and either RCIS, RCES, or ARRT CV
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a cardiac catheterization lab
  • Experience with GE Discovery, IABP, Impella, and CSIR
  • Proficiency in obtaining vitals and interpreting sinus node rhythms
  • Experience with Epic charting system (required); Merge preferred
  • GA or Compact RN license required at time of submission
  • Travel experience required

Unit Details

  • 3 procedure rooms with 5 beds; average daily census of 8-10 patients
  • Daily caseload: 5-10 procedures
  • Unit systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR, Merge (preferred)
  • Scrub color provided by the facility
  • Weekends: Every other weekend unless otherwise specified
  • Call requirements: 10 call days per month

Holiday Policy

  • If one major holiday falls during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work it
  • If two major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work both
  • If three major holidays fall during the assignment, the traveler is expected to work two
  • Major holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day

Compliance & Onboarding

  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Clinical screen required to determine fit; if passed, candidate proceeds to manager for final decision
  • All compliance documents due Tuesday prior to start date
  • Non-billable orientation hours determined by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Must complete core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing

RTO (Request Time Off) Policy

  • All RTO must be finalized at time of submission; no RTO or schedule requests accepted post-offer or onsite
  • Maximum RTO: 7 days per contract
  • If 1-2 holidays fall during assignment: No holiday RTO permitted
  • If 3 holidays fall during assignment: 1 holiday RTO may be considered

Local Candidates & Return Travelers

  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Permanent/Per Diem/FCSS employees must be away from all Piedmont facilities for 1 full year before applying as a traveler
  • Return travelers: If canceled or facility DNR, must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying; ensure profile reflects all time worked at Piedmont Health
