About the role

This position involves providing specialized care on a step-down unit from intensive care with a diverse patient population, including cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and renal patients. The role utilizes a virtual nursing model, requiring collaboration between bedside and virtual RNs, and involves managing patients with complex medical conditions.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized care for patients transitioning from intensive care, including cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and renal patients
• Collaborate with bedside and virtual RNs in a virtual nursing model
• Manage patients with complex medical conditions
• Work scheduled weekends and holidays as required
• Float to lower acuity units within scope when needed

Requirements

• Valid Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand or eligible to obtain within 48 hours of signing
• Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• At least 1 year of relevant clinical experience
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and complex medical-surgical patient care
• Must be at least 50 miles from the facility

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management
• Blood product administration
• Cardiac telemetry
• Central line care
• Chest tubes
• Other specialized procedures

Schedule

• Night shifts, 12 hours per shift
• Minimum of 48 hours per week

Pay

Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
