The organization is seeking a Cardiac Telemetry/Step Down Registered Nurse (RN) for a position within a high-paced intermediate cardiac step-down unit. The role involves providing specialized cardiac care to post-operative and complex cardiac patients. This assignment offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that manages a diverse patient population with a focus on acute cardiac conditions.

Job Details

• Location: 333 PINE RIDGE BLVD, WAUSAU, WI 54401
• Schedule: 12-hour nights shift, with guaranteed minimum of 48 hours per week
• Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Required Qualifications

• Possession of an RN license for Wisconsin
• Certified in BLS and ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC)
• Able to pass an Electrocardiogram (EKG) test within the first week of hire
• At least 1 year of strong cardiac experience in Cardiac Step Down Unit (SDU), intermediate cardiac, or cardiac intensive care units
• At least 2 years of IMC, Progressive Care Unit (PCU), or Telemetry experience
• Mandatory experience with Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Nitro drips
• A minimum of one recent travel assignment and Epic (EPIC) charting experience within the past year

Responsibilities

• Managing complex cardiac patients, including post-operative CABG/Valve, thoracotomy, vascular procedures, arrhythmias, CHF, pacemaker/defibrillator management, ablations, acute coronary syndromes, medication management, and overflow from medical/surgical units

Additional Information

• This unit features 44 beds with a typical patient ratio of 1:4
• The unit is fast-paced with high patient turnover and requires self-management, resilience, and adaptability
• Scrub colors may be any color
• On-call or callback requirements include low census hours, and every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
• Flu season policy mandates masks if declined vaccination

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 48 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
