Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available at a healthcare organization located in Puyallup, Washington. This role involves supporting a fast-paced, multi-diagnosis unit primarily working on Night shifts. The RN will provide specialized care to a diverse patient population, including respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, and post-operative recovery, with responsibilities across various inpatient units, including the Emergency Department Holding area and transport roles.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized care to a diverse patient population including respiratory compromise, sepsis, renal failure, and post-operative recovery
- Work across various inpatient units, including the Emergency Department Holding area
- Transport patients throughout the hospital including inpatient units, imaging, and procedure areas
- Support unit staff during slower periods with flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Handle complex clinical situations with good communication skills
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN licensure
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- At least 1 year of ICU or PCU experience
- Current CPR certification
- Ability to complete and pass telemetry competency prior to start
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation experience
- Ventilator management experience
- Invasive line management experience
- Experience with charting systems such as EPIC and Pyxis
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with chest tubes
- Experience with lumbar drains
- IV medication titration (e.g., Amiodarone, dopamine, insulin)
- General patient education skills
Schedule
- Shift: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift
- Minimum of 36 hours per week
- Duration: 14 weeks
- Start Date: 08/24/2026
- Orientation: Two days of hospital orientation, including login access, modules, and other hospital policies, plus one day on the assigned unit. Additional orientation hours provided for floating to other units.
