Travel Progressive Care Unit RN - $1,914 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Palm Springs, California. This is a 13‑week travel assignment requiring 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The role involves caring for patients who need close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough for ICU care, including monitoring cardiac and vital signs, administering medications, performing bedside procedures, and responding to equipment alerts. TotalMed RN is a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency that places clinicians nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care and stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.
• BLS certification.
• CPI certification.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds routinely; up to 50 pounds for patient moving.
• Good stress‑coping skills.
• Ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds.
