Role Overview
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) supports patient recovery by implementing treatment plans under a Physical Therapist's supervision.
Responsibilities
- Auxiliary with therapeutic exercises and modalities
- Assist with patient transfers
- Document patient progress
- Inform patients and caregivers about treatment plans
- Collaborate with healthcare teams
- Participate in discharge planning
- Maintain a safe and clean treatment environment
Qualifications & Skills
- Valid PTA license and current BLS certification
- Experience in physical therapy assistance is preferred but not mandatory
- Essential skills: critical thinking, effective communication, physical capability to assist with patient movements and equipment, ability to work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal, technical, and sensory skills
Key Duties
- Set up therapy areas
- Guide patients through exercises
- Monitor patient progress
- Record treatment details
- Instruct patients on home programs
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to safety protocols
