Key Responsibilities
- Implementing Treatment Plans
- Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities
- Aid in patient recovery using physical therapy equipment
- Guide patients through prescribed exercises, ensuring correct form and technique
- Monitor and communicate patient progress to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Track and document changes in patient condition
- Provide feedback on patient performance and assist in modifying treatment plans
- Educate patients on proper body mechanics and techniques to manage pain or prevent injury
- Teach patients exercises, stretches, and home care strategies
- Explain the purpose and benefits of physical therapy treatments to patients
- Instruct patients on how to use assistive devices and ensure safe usage
- Provide emotional support to patients throughout the rehabilitation process
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each patient’s progress
- Document patient interactions and report any significant findings to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Collaborate with the Physical Therapist, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Communicate effectively with other team members to provide the best care plan for the patient’s rehabilitation
- Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of physical therapy equipment
- Ensure therapy areas are tidy and organized for patient use
- Adhere to infection control standards and ensure patient safety during therapy sessions
- Assist in evaluations and initial assessments
- Monitor patients for signs of fatigue, discomfort, or injury and adjust therapy plans as needed
Requirements
- Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Indiana
- Experience in physical therapy, preferably in a hospital or outpatient setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of physical therapy equipment and techniques
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related field
- Passing scores on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE)
