Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing Treatment Plans
  • Administer therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, and modalities
  • Aid in patient recovery using physical therapy equipment
  • Guide patients through prescribed exercises, ensuring correct form and technique
  • Monitor and communicate patient progress to the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Track and document changes in patient condition
  • Provide feedback on patient performance and assist in modifying treatment plans
  • Educate patients on proper body mechanics and techniques to manage pain or prevent injury
  • Teach patients exercises, stretches, and home care strategies
  • Explain the purpose and benefits of physical therapy treatments to patients
  • Instruct patients on how to use assistive devices and ensure safe usage
  • Provide emotional support to patients throughout the rehabilitation process
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of each patient’s progress
  • Document patient interactions and report any significant findings to the supervising Physical Therapist
  • Collaborate with the Physical Therapist, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
  • Communicate effectively with other team members to provide the best care plan for the patient’s rehabilitation
  • Assist in the maintenance and cleanliness of physical therapy equipment
  • Ensure therapy areas are tidy and organized for patient use
  • Adhere to infection control standards and ensure patient safety during therapy sessions
  • Assist in evaluations and initial assessments
  • Monitor patients for signs of fatigue, discomfort, or injury and adjust therapy plans as needed

Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state of Indiana
  • Experience in physical therapy, preferably in a hospital or outpatient setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of physical therapy equipment and techniques
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy or related field
  • Passing scores on the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE)

  • Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation)
