About the role
American Traveler is seeking a Physical Therapist with 2+ years of experience for an acute care hospital position focused on high-acuity geriatric patients in a regional referral center.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care hospital setting on general medicine floors within a regional referral center.
- Treat patient population primarily consisting of geriatric patients with high-acuity diagnoses.
- Follow a day shift schedule, 8:30–17:00 (occasionally 8:00–16:30).
- Work 5x8-hour shifts per week with 4 weekend shifts per month; specific weekend schedule discussed during interview.
- May float to other general medicine floors within the hospital.
- Contract duration is 13 weeks.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of physical therapy experience required.
- Current BLS certification required (AHA-issued).
- Active Louisiana state PT license required if applicable.
- Comfortable working with high-acuity geriatric patients in an acute care environment.
Qualifications
- Must live 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position.
- Any requested time off (RTO) must be discussed during the interview process.
- In the event of a declared emergency, travelers may be assigned to an emergency response team and expected to remain at or return to the facility until the event has passed; candidates who are not comfortable with this expectation should not apply.
- All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Pay
The pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
