About the role

The staff physical therapist is responsible for evaluation, consultation, and treatment of patients, as well as overall utilization, supervision, and instruction of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students in their area of physical therapy as it pertains to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively ensure patients are progressed to prior level of function or maximum medical improvement per Plan of Care.
  • Perform appropriate assessments on each patient, including pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric patients, and reassessments as per policy.
  • Maintain records pertinent to patient care, including progress reports, daily notes, special reports as requested, and supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants.

Requirements

  • Earned degree from an accredited program in Physical Therapy.
  • Current Colorado licensure.

Special Demands

  • Mental: Astute communication skills with employees, physicians, visitors, patients/families, and administration. Ability to adjust to job situations involving many different people and projects, requiring independent action and judgment.
  • Physical: Flexibility to work in continually changing conditions. Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment and provide hands-on assessment, assistance, and exercise to patients. Ability to lift and move patients with or without assistance and maneuver equipment of 20 pounds or more. Agility required for frequent changes in position. Visual and hearing acuity required to receive feedback and information from patients. Ability to effectively counsel patients and their families.

Working Environment

  • Provides treatment in multiple settings, including inpatient and outpatient.
  • Full-time position working Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend coverage for inpatient/swing bed evaluations.
  • Stress of meeting deadlines, busy environment, numerous interruptions, exposure to emergency situations, and extended hours depending on job necessity.
