Travel Physical Therapist - $3,200 per week

About the role

Provides full-time, quality outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care. Treats all patient age ranges and diagnoses within the State of Alaska’s physical therapy scope of practice. Incorporates evidence-based medicine into patient plans of care. Exemplifies professional conduct, patient care ethics, and respect for cultural diversity when rendering patient care. Modifies patient care plans appropriately, using age-specific and patient-specific considerations. Supports the Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation’s mission statement.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week
• 8-hour night shifts
• Employment Type: Travel
• If the guaranteed hours are 40 per week, the first week will not include guaranteed hours since orientation starts on a Tuesday.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outpatient and inpatient physical therapy services.
• Adapt care plans using age-specific and patient-specific considerations.
• Communicate effectively with medical staff, peers, administrative personnel, and culturally diverse patients, including non-English speakers.
• Document patient care and medical correspondence accurately.
• Operate standard physical therapy equipment (hi-lo table, whirlpool, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, electric stimulation modalities, etc.).
• In village-based settings, bring necessary supplies (theraband, exercise programs, etc.) and use provided treatment tables.
• Utilize personal computers, MS Office programs, email, and internet resources to access medical literature beneficial to patient care.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
• Licensed in good standing in Alaska as a Physical Therapist, or completed FSBPT paperwork to work as a Student Physical Therapist post-graduation while preparing for the licensure exam.
• Current BLS certification.
• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations.
• Hospital-based experience is helpful but not required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy periodicals and medical literature.
• Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computation of rates, ratios, percentages, and interpretation of bar graphs.
• Problem-solving skills for situations with limited standardization.
• Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
