This position requires a commitment to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Position Details Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Shift: 12-hour night shifts Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years Required Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Unit and Patient Care Information Number of Beds: 40 beds with an average daily census of 24 Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 during both day and night shifts Common Patient Diagnoses: Adult cardiac, medical/surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular issues, sepsis, respiratory problems, stroke, post-stent and post-pacer placements, renal failure Titration of Drips: Required, including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Available with a ratio of 1:12 Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care, including but not limited to: Titrating IV medications Monitoring patient conditions and responding to changes Interpreting cardiac rhythms and reading telemetry strips Utilizing respiratory equipment such as high flow oxygen therapy Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes Work Environment Our focus is on enhancing patient experience scores, promoting effective communication regarding medications, and maintaining a positive hospital atmosphere. The patient population is diverse, primarily consisting of Hispanic and Somalian communities. Schedule and Orientation Shifts: 6:30 AM - 6:30 PM and 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend Holiday Commitments: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period Floating: Required to MedSurg or ICU as needed for PCU patient acuity Orientation: 1 day of unit-specific training Additional Notes Candidates must demonstrate flexibility, teamwork, and adaptability.
