Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.

Beds: 12 PCU/IMC beds + 4 ICU-capable rooms

Average Census: Approximately 8 patients

ICU: 1:3

IMC/PCU: 1:3–4

Med-Surg: 1:5

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of PCU experience (Med-Surg/Telemetry alone is not sufficient)
  • OR Prior ICU experience
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • Strong patient care and documentation skills
  • Cerner EMR experience required

  • Post-operative orthopedic patients (knees, hips)

Leadership

  • Charge Nurse typically carries a small patient assignment.
  • Travelers may be asked to function as Charge Nurse.
  • House Supervisor oversees both the ED and inpatient floor.
  • Unit Manager is a former travel nurse.
  • Support Staff: CNA support available. Approximately 1 CNA depending on census (generally when census exceeds 6 patients).
  • Telemetry: Remote telemetry monitoring. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips. Monitoring is performed remotely through Eau Claire.
  • Respiratory: Ventilator patients are transferred to a higher level of care.
  • Scheduler collaborates with staff for scheduling. Self-scheduling with manager balancing coverage.
  • Block scheduling may be considered but is not guaranteed.
  • Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
  • Holiday Requirement: Work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
  • Call / Standby: Yes
  • Low census/standby rotation: 45-minute response time.
  • Travelers willing to float (such as assisting in the ED) are less likely to be placed on standby.
  • May float to: Emergency Department for task assistance, Care for ED hold patients, Dressing patients.
