About the role

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Pathologist Assistant for a 13-week travel assignment in Morgantown, West Virginia. The position offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and the support of a dedicated clinical team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform examination and dissection of specimens, ensuring proper documentation and processing
  • Describe and sections specimens, applying appropriate fixation and processing techniques for microscopic evaluation
  • Photograph and document specimens, lesions, and tissue abnormalities for clinical and educational purposes
  • Ensure proper labeling, accessioning, and tracking of all specimens to maintain accurate patient records
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
  • Implement time management skills to optimize workflow and turnaround times
  • Adequately manage equipment, provide supplies, and maintain cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as a Pathology Assistant
  • Valid license when needed in compliance with any state regulations
  • National certification through ASCP or equivalent such as AMT, AAB, HEW certifications
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)

Qualifications

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Must be able to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary)

Pay

The pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
