About the role

The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) position is located in the Saint Louis area at a Level I Trauma Center. This role provides recovery care for surgical patients, including Neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, general, colorectal, GYN, urological, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and transplant cases. The position requires high acuity inpatient PACU experience and the ability to manage artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs. Night shift learning may be necessary to work up preoperative patients when no PACU patients are present.

Schedule

• 12-hour day shifts
• 36 hours minimum per week
• Start date: 09/14/2026
• Duration: 16 weeks

Responsibilities

• Provide recovery care for high acuity surgical patients
• Manage artificial airways, invasive monitoring, transfusions, and vasoactive drugs
• Work in a Level I Trauma Center critical care environment
• Support adult, adolescent, and geriatric patient populations
• Utilize EPIC charting system

Requirements

• Valid ACLS and BLS certifications
• High acuity PACU and ICU/critical care experience (minimum 2 years preferred)
• Experience with drains, vasoactive drips, mechanical ventilation, and recovery from general anesthesia
• Working knowledge of EPIC charting system
• Community hospital experience preferred
• No local candidates within 75 miles accepted
• MO license submission acceptable; IL license in hand required at time of submittal

Preferred Qualifications

• Trauma Level I experience
• Previous Level I trauma ICU experience
• Experience with high acuity inpatient PACU
• Familiarity with neuro monitoring including ICP
• Certification in CCRN and TNCC

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
