Travel OR RN - $2,357 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking an Operating Room RN for a travel nursing opportunity in Aiken, SC. The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse and/or scrub nurse, with potential for RN first assistant duties.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients
• Provide pre- and post-surgery care and education to patients
• Provide basic bedside care
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment
• Serve as the communication liaison between patients' family members and members of the operating team
• Ensure that the correct procedure is being performed on the correct patient
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach patients and families how to manage medication and home care needs

Circulating OR Nurse duties

• Respond to comfort and safety needs of patient
• Accurate care and handling of specimens
• Monitor equipment used during surgery
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure

Scrub OR Nurse duties

• Select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures
• Inventory of surgical items pre- and post-procedure

RN First Assistant duties

• Assist physicians by delivering direct surgical care
• Help control bleeding
• Suture patients following surgery

Requirements

• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification
• 2 years of experience
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment

Physical requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Easily lift 20 pounds
• May need to lift up to 50 pounds when moving or lifting patients

Work environment

RNs may face hazards from exposure to certain chemicals or infectious diseases in the operating room environment.

Schedule

10-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week, 13-week duration.
