About the role

Travel nurse RN - Operating Room position in Flint, Michigan. Start date: 11/09/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Schedule: 36 hours per week, 12‑hour day shifts. Employment type: travel.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and medical staff in caring for surgical patients; provide pre‑ and post‑surgery care and education.
• Function as circulating nurse (outside sterile field) or scrub nurse (inside sterile field); potentially act as RN first assistant.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients’ families and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by physician; teach medication and home‑care management.
• Additional duties for circulating nurses: respond to patient comfort and safety needs; handle specimens accurately; monitor surgical equipment; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for scrub nurses: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies; inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Additional duties for RN first assistant: assist physicians with direct surgical care; help control bleeding; suture patients post‑surgery.
• Physical demands: stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, stoop; lift up to 20 lb routinely, up to 50 lb when moving patients.
• Be aware of hazards from chemicals or infectious diseases in the OR.

Requirements

• Active RN license.
• BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience as a circulating and/or scrub nurse; RN first assistant experience a plus.
• Ability to meet the physical demands described above.
• Additional facility‑specific certifications may be required before assignment.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
