Travel OR RN - $1,808 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Operating Room position in Arlington, Texas. The assignment is 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour day shifts. The role involves assisting physicians and surgical team, providing pre‑ and post‑operative patient care, education, and serving as a communication liaison with families.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting adverse reactions.
• Serve as communication liaison between patients' families and the operating team.
• Ensure correct procedure is performed on the correct patient.
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician; teach medication and home‑care management.
• Circulating OR Nurse duties: respond to patient comfort and safety needs, handle specimens accurately, monitor surgical equipment, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• Scrub OR Nurse duties: select and handle surgical instruments and supplies during procedures, inventory surgical items pre‑ and post‑procedure.
• RN First Assistant duties: assist physicians with direct surgical care, help control bleeding, suture patients post‑surgery.

Requirements

• Active BLS certification.
• Minimum 1 year recent acute care experience as a circulating nurse, scrub nurse, or potential RN first assistant (1‑2 years preferred).
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean, stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds routinely; patient handling may require up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases in the OR environment.
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.

Schedule

12‑hour day shifts, 36 hours per week.
