About the Role

Magnet Medical is seeking a travel Occupational Therapist for a 26-week assignment in Hilo, Hawaii. This full-time, travel position involves 40 hours per week with 8-hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments to evaluate patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities using standardized tests, interviews, and observations.
  • Develop comprehensive evaluation reports identifying areas of improvement, goals, and required interventions.
  • Create personalized treatment plans with measurable goals for self-care, mobility, work performance, and cognitive skills.
  • Implement individualized therapy programs to improve motor skills, cognitive function, sensory processing, and social interaction.
  • Use therapeutic activities such as exercises, games, and adaptive strategies to enhance patients' independence in daily living.
  • Teach patients adaptive techniques for activities of daily living (ADLs) like dressing, bathing, cooking, and using assistive devices.
  • Educate patients and families about the rehabilitation process, adaptive equipment, and strategies for functional independence.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals (doctors, physical therapists, speech therapists, nursing staff) to provide comprehensive care.
  • Participate in care planning meetings and communicate patient progress to families and caregivers.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient progress, therapy sessions, and treatment plan modifications in compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Monitor and reassess patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  • Assist patients in transitioning from therapy to independent living, ensuring readiness for daily tasks outside a clinical environment.
  • Advocate for patients to access necessary resources and provide information about community programs and support groups.
  • Stay current with developments in occupational therapy through continuing education, workshops, and seminars.

Pay

Pay package is based on 8-hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
