Description
American Traveler is seeking an Occupational Therapist with acute care hospital experience for an inpatient rehab position requiring BLS, NBCOT, and an active IN or Compact license.
Details
Inpatient acute care hospital setting with a rehabilitation team of 19 professionals. Patients span all acuity levels including ICU and progressive care units. Diverse diagnoses include CABG and other cardiac procedures, stroke, TBI, joint replacement, fracture repairs, respiratory illnesses, dementia, MS, and Parkinson's disease. Day shift, Monday–Friday plus one weekend day per month (5x8-hour shifts, 8:00–16:30). Charting performed in Cerner. Floating within the hospital or to a nearby affiliate hospital is required of all travelers.
Requirements
- Active IN state OT license or Compact license required (license must be in hand prior to start date; temporary licenses may be obtainable once permanent license application has been submitted — license required if applicable)
- NBCOT certification required
- Current BLS certification required (AHA and RQI accepted)
- Minimum 1 year of OT experience, with at least 6 months in acute care (hard requirement)
- Cerner EMR experience preferred
- SSN and DOB required for consideration
- Two supervisor references required for consideration

Responsibilities
Evaluating patients, developing and following plans of care (POC) encompassing ADL training, therapeutic exercises, and therapeutic activities to improve function, and assessing appropriateness of discharge disposition recommendations on a daily basis.
Experience and Skills
- Experience with prosthetics/orthotics and splinting is preferred, including above- and below-knee prosthetics, functional splints, static splints, and upper extremity prosthetics
- PREFERRED MODALITIES AND SKILLS INCLUDE EDEMA MASSAGE, KINESIO-TAPING, AND LYMPHEDEMA MANAGEMENT
Additional Information
Experience with Royal blue scrubs is required; black shoes must be worn. Candidates must be prepared to work 2 out of 3 major holidays. Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO may be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval. First-time travelers are welcome to apply. Indiana residents are considered local and are eligible for this Allied position at a lower pay package. Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have been away from the facility for at least 12 months before applying as a traveler. Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break before resuming travel assignments: out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break, both prior to reaching their traveler year mark.
