About the Role
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for an Acute Care Rehabilitation Services unit within a teaching facility in Montgomery, Alabama. This is a 13-week travel assignment starting September 14, 2026, with 40 hours per week on an 8-hour day shift (typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM). First-time travelers with at least 1 year of acute care experience are encouraged to apply.
- Treat high-acuity, complex patients including post-cardiac, post-ortho/joint, trauma, and post-stroke cases
- Occasional weekend rotation based on departmental needs
- No on-call requirements or floating between facilities
- Cerner charting system used
- Free parking available
Responsibilities
- Independently evaluate, treat, and manage a caseload of high-acuity patients
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of approximately 6 OTs per shift
- Support the interdisciplinary team with efficiency and flexibility
- Work in a teaching facility environment with students
Requirements
- Current Alabama OT license (if applicable)
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
- Familiarity with high-acuity patient types including cardiac, ortho/joint, trauma, and stroke cases
- Comfortable working in a teaching facility environment
- Professional scrubs (matching top and bottom in any color except eccentric colors)
- Must live outside a 60-mile radius of the facility (local candidates not accepted)
- Former staff must wait 6 months before returning as a traveler
Orientation & Support
- 1 week of orientation prior to first caseload
- Day 1: General hospital orientation and learning modules
- Day 2: Departmental training and Cerner refresher
- Support provided by supervisor, manager, and multidisciplinary team
