American Traveler is seeking a travel Occupational Therapist for an assignment in Charleston, West Virginia.

About the Role

This is a 13-week travel assignment in an Acute Care Medical Rehabilitation Unit, with a focus on stroke patients (approximately 40% of caseload). The facility features a full OT gym equipped with a kitchen and a wide variety of therapy technology, fostering strong interdisciplinary collaboration between PT, OT, and SLP teams. The patient population is primarily adult and geriatric, with a patient ratio of 1:5.

Schedule

  • Day shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)
  • Required weekend coverage: one Saturday per month for 4 hours (flexible timing)
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating to a sister facility may be required if needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services in an acute care medical rehabilitation setting
  • Collaborate with Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology teams for patient care
  • Utilize Cerner charting system for documentation

Requirements

  • Active Occupational Therapist license required to practice in West Virginia (pending state license accepted for consideration, but active license required to begin)
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
  • NBCOT certification required
  • BLS certification required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met
  • Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rates (case-by-case consideration for those between 75-100 miles)
  • Former permanent employees must wait 2 years from their last date of permanent employment before returning as a traveler
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible for travel contracts within the same system

  • Scrub colors may be any color except blue, forest green, or maroon (reserved for nursing staff)
  • Unit-branded t-shirts available for staff to wear
  • No restrictions on requested time off (RTO)
