About the role
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for a 12-week travel assignment in an Acute Care Hospital setting in O'Fallon, Missouri. This position requires 2+ years of experience and prior travel experience.
Short-term acute care hospital setting with 69 staffed beds. Weekend rotation required every 6th full weekend (0730-1600), and holiday rotation required. May be required to float between two facility locations within scope of practice. Epic charting system used; experience preferred. No on-call requirements.
Schedule
- Day shift, Monday-Friday, 5x8 hours (0900-1730)
- 40 hours per week
- Weekend shift every 6th full weekend (0730-1600)
- Holiday rotation required
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services including assessment, evaluation, and discharge planning for adult acute care patients
- Perform activities of daily living training and adaptive equipment fitting
- Conduct patient and family education focused on safety and injury prevention
- Complete documentation, billing, and telephone follow-up as part of daily responsibilities
Requirements
- Current, active state OT license required (pending state license accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Prior travel experience required
- Adult care experience required
- Experience with hip fracture, total hip replacement, knee injuries, and total knee replacement required
- Adaptive equipment experience required
- Experience with lifting/transfers, patient/family education, and safety/injury prevention required
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- CVA rehabilitation and Parkinson's disease experience preferred
- Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
Additional Information
- Scrub attire: black or scrub top with tan or scrub pants
- Free employee parking available in designated yellow-lined spots
- RTO limited to no more than 7 days per contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of the assignment
- Permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Standard travelers may work up to an 18-month period before a required 3-month break in service
