Aptiva Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN specializing in Wound Care for an assignment in Brooklyn, New York. This is a 13-week travel position starting 08/10/2026, with 40 hours per week on an 8-hour day shift.
Responsibilities
- Conduct health assessments focused on wound, ostomy, and continence-related care. Perform focused physical assessments, develop plans of care based on diagnosis and individual client needs, and recommend treatments as appropriate.
- Assist with the development, revision, and evaluation of standards of care.
- Assess and document patient response to wound care, ostomy, continence, fistula, and complex wound treatments. Evaluate the quality and delivery of care provided by clinical staff.
- Work collaboratively with the healthcare team and make referrals to other disciplines as indicated.
- Teach, counsel, and assist individuals and families in assuming responsibility for the prevention of complications related to ostomies, wounds, or continence problems.
- Routinely provide comprehensive assessments of patients at risk for developing pressure injuries and initiate preventative measures.
- Participate in Unit/Department Quality Improvement and Hospital-Wide Q.I. activities, including Incidence, Prevalence Studies, and Nursing Quality.
- Provide culturally competent patient, family, and staff education consistent with cultural, ethnic, religious, and other belief systems.
- Maintain the security and confidentiality of data and information in accordance with patient rights policies.
- Perform other assigned tasks and be willing to float as needed.
Requirements
- Three to five (3-5) years of experience in healthcare, in addition to RN contracted labor requirements.
- Ability to fully utilize electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Active NYS Registered Nurse license.
- One of the following certifications:
- Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) issued by the WOCNCB; or
- Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) issued by the WOCNCB; or
- Certified Wound Specialist (CWS) issued by the American Board of Wound Management (ABWM); or
- Wound Care Certified Certification (WCC) issued by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy (NAWCO).
- Wound care certificate (required).
