Job Description & Requirements

• 27-bed telemetry unit with a patient ratio of 1:4-5 on days/PMs (7:00 AM - 11:30 PM) and 1:6-8 overnight (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend rotation every other weekend required
• No block scheduling
• No on-call requirements
• Holiday expectations include 1 summer and 1 winter holiday
• Overtime requires manager approval
• Cannot work more than 60 hours in a week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts per fatigue policy
• Care for patient types including CHF, EP studies, afib and dysrhythmias, Coumadin loading, cardiac heart failure, cath lab, amputations, and pre-surgical patients
• Required skills include cardiac drips (Primacor, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine), heparin, Lasix and insulin drips, chest tube management, trach care, telemetry reading, and wound care
• Charting system: EPIC (preferred), Alaris, Pyxis, and GE monitors
• May float to all other inpatient areas within scope of practice, including occasional ICU assignments for appropriate med-surg patients and ED Holding at a 1:4 ratio; travelers are first to float
• Unit support includes charge nurse, unit secretary (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), respiratory therapy (24/7), centralized telemetry monitoring with tele tech, and phlebotomy assistance
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certification: BLS
• Must document pain levels before and after administering pain medications (1 hour post for oral medications) and ensure pain score aligns with medication order parameters
• Scrub color: Any - no camouflage or denim
