About the role
Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Post/Pre-Op RN for a 13-week travel assignment in Damariscotta, Maine.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients pre-operatively, including reviewing medical history, performing physical examinations, and identifying potential risks
- Prepare patients for surgery, including educating them about procedures and post-operative care
- Receive and conduct comprehensive assessments of patients transferring from the operating room and assess their post-anesthesia condition
- Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients in the perioperative setting
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records
- Develop and deliver individualized patient and family education plans, including detailed discharge instructions and recovery guidelines
- Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive pre and post-operative care
- Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity of care between units and departments
- Operate and monitor pre and post op-specific equipment, such as ventilators, monitors, and infusion pumps
- Respond promptly to emergency situations utilizing Pre/post op nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols
- Take temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal, assess patient condition and respond appropriately
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques
- Ensure patient safety and comfort prior to and during the surgical recovery period
Requirements
- One year of recent experience as a Pre/Post-Op RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
- ACLS Certifications (AHA/ARC) and PALS (AHA/ARC) certification preferred
Qualifications
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary)
- Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Must have the ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure
- Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel
- Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
- Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate

Pay
Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
