About the role

Fusion Medical Staffing is recruiting a travel nurse RN for a Pediatrics OR - Operating Room position in Aurora, Colorado. The position is available immediately for a 13-week duration with 40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
  • Aids in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
  • Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures that adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Monitors patient's condition during surgery, documenting significant changes and notifying the surgeon of any significant changes.
  • Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
  • Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
  • Participates in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Aids in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
  • Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • One year's recent experience as a Pediatric Operating Room RN.
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
  • Current PALS or ENPC certifications preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Must be able to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills.
  • Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.

Pay

The pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
