About the role
Fusion Medical Staffing is recruiting a travel nurse RN for a Pediatrics OR - Operating Room position in Omaha, Nebraska.
Responsibilities
- Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
- Aids in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
- Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures that adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
- Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
- Manages surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
- Handles specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
- Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
- Participates in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
- Cleans and restocks the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
- Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follows hospital safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
Requirements
- One year's recent experience as a Pediatric Operating Room RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current PALS or ENPC certifications.
- ACLS or Nursing Certification (CNOR) preferred.
Qualifications
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
- Must be able to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficient in PC skills.
- Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure.
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism.

Pay
The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
