About the role
Step Down Unit Nurse (Specialty: Step Down) night shift, located in the healthcare provider organization. This role involves providing high-quality care for patients with moderate to severe illness in a specialized unit, supporting patient recovery and stability.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 26-bed intermediate care unit with a focus on conditions such as CHF, COVID pneumonia, Afib with RVR, tachy/brady syndrome, and syncope
- Take charge of patient care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including hospitalists and e-hospitalists
- Handle cardiopulmonary equipment such as Bipap, Cpap, and Vapotherm
- Float rotation expected to accommodate unit ratios of 1:4 or 1:5
- Orientation consists of one hospital shift and two unit shifts
Schedule
- Nights, 12-hour shifts
- Minimum 48 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday
- No holiday or call requirements
Requirements
- Active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification
- ACLS (American Heart Association) certification
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting
- COVID-19 negative drug screen
- Compliance with employment requirements including last four digits of SSN and middle initial
