Job Summary

Cardiac Step Down Nurse in the Heart & Vascular Institute located in Morgantown, West Virginia. This role involves providing specialized care for post-operative cardiac and vascular patients in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Job Details

  • Location: Morgantown, West Virginia

  • Unit type: Heart & Vascular Institute

  • Shift Schedule: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), three shifts per week with weekends and holidays as scheduled; minimum of 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

  • Current license willing to wait

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cardiac/vascular care

  • Experience with cardiac/vascular patients

  • Proficiency in reading strips

  • Able to titrate drips such as Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, TPA, Lasix, Dobutamine

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cardiac/vascular experience

  • Floors available

Additional Information

  • Unit notes specify the need for excellent teamwork and high-quality patient care

  • Charge Nurse/House Supervisors available 24/7

  • Nursing assistants: 1 clinical associate per 8-10 patients, with a goal of 4-5 assistants on shift

  • Equipment used includes Cpap, Bipap, Hi-flow oxygen

  • Unit specific orientation: 2-3 shifts

  • Mandatory submission requirements: Only one position at a time across the entire system; Drivers license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility; Previous permanent candidates must be gone for 2 years; Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years; All submittals must include an unexpired drivers license copy; Travel teams must be submitted together in one email; Only 2 candidates may be submitted per opening; if at max, submissions are held for future openings

Pay Package

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
