Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $2,225 per week

About the role

Step Down Unit registered nurses (RNs) are sought for a fast-paced, adult and geriatric-focused healthcare facility. Located in an acute care setting, this role involves managing patients with conditions such as cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, and diabetes, often requiring continuous EEG monitoring. The position requires critical thinking, effective communication, and teamwork to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage patients with cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, and diabetes
• Perform continuous EEG monitoring
• Titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Collaborate with charge nurse (who takes assignments) and team members
• Float to medical floors, Intensive Care Units (ICU), or rehabilitation units as needed

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week
• Duration: 14 weeks (September 28, 2026 – January 4, 2027)
• Orientation: one week of onboarding plus 1-2 days of floor-specific training

Requirements

• Valid RN licensure
• Minimum of 2 years of experience
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (AHA)
• National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Must adhere to 50-mile radius rule
• Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the specific healthcare network
• Valid driver's license required at submittal for mileage verification
• RTO (Request for Time Off) must be submitted upfront for 7 days or less within the 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved
