About the facility

56-bed unit with the following patient ratios:

• RN: PCU/Tele – 1:4 (Days & Nights)
• Med/Surg – 1:5 (Days & Nights)
• CNA – 1:8 (Days & Nights)

Responsibilities

• Cardiac and vasoactive drip titration (approval required if traveler lacks this experience)
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV starts
• Blood product administration
• CIWA protocol management
• Drain/tube management
• Indwelling and straight catheter insertion/management
• Insulin drip administration for both DKA and non-DKA scenarios
• Continuous bladder irrigation
• Chest tube maintenance
• Precepting nursing students
• Compliance with monthly Pre/Post Pain Scoring audits (90% compliance required)

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PCU or Tele RN experience (candidates with 1–1.5 years require manager approval)
• First-time travelers accepted if they have over 2 years of RN experience
• BLS (required for all RNs)
• ACLS (required for PCU & Tele RNs, preferred for LPNs)
• Completion of a board-approved nursing education program
• Active RN license (South Dakota Board of Nursing)

Skills

• Experience with specialty cross-floating (e.g., ICU RN qualified to float to ED, PCU RN qualified to float to ICU)
