Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $2,108 per week

About the Role

A Stepdown Registered Nurse provides care to patients transitioning from intensive care to medical-surgical or general inpatient units. These patients require frequent monitoring and specialized nursing interventions, including cardiac care, medication administration, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, with a focus on cardiac care
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during cardiac-related procedures and examinations
• Maintain awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients
• Observe patient conditions, record significant reactions, and notify supervisors or physicians of patient status and responses
• Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies
• Document nursing history and physical assessments for assigned telemetry patients
• Initiate patient education plans tailored to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
• Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Requirements

• One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN
• Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
• Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
• Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC)

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification
• NIHSS Certification
