Travel Nurse RN - PCU - Progressive Care Unit - $1,978 per week

About the role

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RNs care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough for ICU care. They monitor cardiac and other vital information using computer equipment, detect changes, and enable intervention for life‑threatening situations. PCU patients often receive complex medications via IV lines that may need adjustment or titration. The role is also known as step‑down, cardiac stepdown, medical stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown, or ER holding.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
• Stand and walk for long
