Travel Nurse RN - PACU - Post Anesthesia Care - $2,560 per week

About the role

Travel RN position in PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) at a full‑service hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin. The 14‑bay PACU unit handles approximately 35 patients per day with a 1:2 nurse‑to‑patient ratio, serving general surgery, spine and neuro, GI, ENT, cardiac, peripheral vascular, and orthopedic cases. The assignment begins 11/02/2026 for 13 weeks, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Work variable 4×10‑hour shifts with start times of 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 9:00 AM.
• Maintain a 40‑hour weekly schedule.
• Provide on‑call coverage: one night per week for 4 weeks out of every 6‑week schedule and every 5th weekend, with a 30‑minute response time; call shift starts at 11:00 AM with a minimum 2‑hour callback.
• Participate in holiday rotation.
• Stabilize ICU patients prior to transfer.
• Manage care for patients undergoing general surgery, spine and neuro, GI, ENT, cardiac, peripheral vascular, and orthopedic procedures.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience.
• Recent hospital experience with post‑cardiac and pediatric exposure.
• Required certifications: WI RN License, AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Associate degree or certificate required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Epic charting strongly preferred; previous electronic charting experience required if no Epic experience.
• Scrubs of any color permitted.

Qualifications

Education: Associate degree or certificate in nursing (Bachelor’s preferred).

Licensure: Current Wisconsin RN license.

Skills

• Proficient in Epic electronic charting (or comparable electronic charting systems).
• Strong clinical judgment in post‑anesthesia care.
• Ability to manage high‑acuity, diverse surgical cases.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a fast‑paced PACU.

Schedule

• Shift length: 10 hours.
• Weekly hours: 40 hours (variable 4×10 shifts).
• Shift start times: 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, or 9:00 AM.
• On‑call: one night per week for 4 weeks out of every 6‑week schedule and every 5th weekend; call shift starts 11:00 AM with minimum 2‑hour callback.
• Holiday rotation required.
• Weekend on‑call every 5th weekend.

Pay

Estimated gross weekly pay: $2,560 (based on 10‑hour shifts and 40 hours per week). Pay delivered via weekly direct deposit.
