The role involves providing care to adult and pediatric patients recovering from surgery and anesthesia in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Candidates will be responsible for monitoring patient recovery, managing airway equipment, and coordinating with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes. Job Details: Schedule: Rotating shifts, primarily Monday through Friday daytime shifts, with potential to rotate to weekends and night shifts as needed. Positions available for 0.9 and 1.0 Full-Time Equivalents, scheduled as three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week. Pre-op shifts start at 0530; PACU shifts start at 0730, 0800, 0830, 0900, 0930, or 1000. Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to submit; minimum of 2 years of experience in postoperative care, including PACU or level 1 trauma PACU preferred. Certifications required include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system (EPIC), experience with ventilators and respiratory equipment, and the ability to read cardiac strips are essential. Preferred Qualifications: Prior PACU experience, familiarity with adult and pediatric general surgery, plastics, dental/ENT/maxillofacial, urology, neurosurgery, surgical oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, OB/GYN, thoracic, regional anesthesia techniques, and bariatrics. Experience caring for ICU patients recovering in PACU is advantageous. Additional Information: The unit maintains patient ratios of 1:3 in Pre-op, 1:2 in PACU, and 1:3 in Phase II. The team includes dedicated Nurse Aides, typically five in Pre-op, two in PACU, and two in Phase II. Experience with emergency procedures, including Epic charting and recovery of ICU patients, is required. The position involves working in hospital scrubs, floating within pre/post departments, and participating in holiday and call rotations. Orientation includes one day each for Pre-op, PACU, and Phase II training. The position is scheduled for 3-12 hour shifts weekly, with a requirement of 20 hours of call per schedule period. Response time to call is one hour.
