Travel Nurse RN - OR - Operating Room - $2,815 per week
About the role
Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at a rural healthcare provider in Sterling, Illinois. This position involves supporting a fast-paced OR with surgical cases including Cesarean sections, endovascular procedures, and cataract surgeries. The RN will assist with patient care, surgical support, and call coverage to ensure timely completion of cases.
The facility is a small rural hospital with 7 operating rooms, including a Cesarean section suite and an endovascular suite. The RN will support various service lines such as General, Urology, ENT, Podiatry, Gynecology, and Orthopedics (approximately 4 days weekly). The caseload includes approximately 1-2 Cesarean sections, 6 endovascular cases, and 20-25 cataract surgeries weekly. The facility predominantly uses paper charting with some Electronic Medical Record (EMR) entries in Cerner.
Responsibilities
- Provide perioperative patient care in the OR.
- Support surgical cases including General, Urology, ENT, Podiatry, Gynecology, and Orthopedics.
- Assist with Cesarean sections, endovascular procedures, and cataract surgeries.
- Ensure timely completion of surgical cases.
- Participate in call coverage as required (a few nights per week plus every 4th or 5th weekend).
- Adapt to early start times (around 6:15 or 6:30 AM) for large cases.
- Stay beyond scheduled hours if necessary due to case duration.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in an Operating Room setting.
- Relevant certifications and education requirements for an OR RN.
- Ability to work in Sterling, Illinois for the duration of the assignment.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and adapt to call responsibilities.
Schedule
- Dayshift, 10-hour shifts (Monday through Friday).
- Call responsibilities a few nights per week plus every 4th or 5th weekend.
