About the role

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room RN for a 16-week travel assignment in Burlington, Vermont. The role offers comprehensive patient care, competitive pay, and benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares the operating room by ensuring all required instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional for each surgical procedure.
  • Aids in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety according to procedural requirements.
  • Maintains a sterile field throughout surgical procedures and adheres to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
  • Anticipates the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Handles surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring their proper use, sterilization, and disposal according to facility protocols.
  • Manages specimen collection, labeling, and transport according to facility protocols, ensuring accurate diagnostic results.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care in the perioperative setting accurately and thoroughly.
  • Participates in patient handoff communication during pre- and post-operative phases, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Cleans and restocks the operating room between cases, adhering to infection control and turnover protocols.
  • Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
  • Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
  • Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
  • Prior ACLS (AHA/ARC), PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC certifications OR Nursing Certification (CNOR) preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend.
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism.
  • Must have the ability to grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
  • Must have the ability to cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally, as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail.
  • Must possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate.

Pay

The pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

Shift: 12 hours, nights.
