Job Summary
This position involves providing specialized perioperative care within a Level I trauma center. The role requires working in a high-acuity environment, supporting various service lines excluding cardiovascular, with a focus on general, trauma, and specialized surgical cases.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting on 08/17/2026

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3.0 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
- Active Illinois nursing license (or in application process)
- BLS certification required
- CNOR credential preferred
- Experience with laparoscopic assisted cases
- General OR and trauma experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Cerner charting system experience
- Level I trauma experience
- Experience with a variety of surgical procedures including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, cervical fusion, craniotomy, lumbar fusion, orthopedic surgeries, and transplants
Additional Responsibilities
- Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular
- Must have experience with equipment such as electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, Hana tables, Mazor robots, and Da Vinci Xi Surgical System
Special Requirements
- Level I trauma experience
- Bariatric case experience (laparoscopic assisted)
- General surgery cases (appendectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, etc.)
- Neurology, orthopedics, plastics, transplant, urology, trauma, and emergency management skills including code response, fire safety, and infection control
On-Call & Overtime
- On-call required once per week, generally infrequent
- Up to 36 hours may be called off per thirteen-week assignment without billing for canceled hours
Additional Information
- Support from interdisciplinary teams including IV, therapy, respiratory, and radiology
- No float within scope expected; hospital understands the clinical scope and requirements relevant to the role
Facility Details
Acute care hospital with 562 beds, Level I trauma center, magnet designation, no cost parking, and Cerner charting system.
Candidate Requirements
- Must have at least 2.5 years of OR experience
- Active Illinois license
- Certifications as specified
- Must be prepared to submit SSN and DOB documentation
- Floating within scope may be necessary
- All pre-employment compliance steps must be completed within specified timelines

Pay Package
The pay package is based on 10 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
