About the role

Primarily responsible for applying the nursing process to the care of veteran patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. This includes, but is not limited to, assuring that appropriate documentation reflects assessment of patient needs, interdisciplinary treatment plans, clinical intervention, and evaluation of patients' responses to treatments. Also responsible for assigning and evaluating the work of non-nursing direct care providers assigned to the operating room.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and develop effective nursing care plans
• Implement and document clinical interventions
• Evaluate patients' responses to treatments
• Assign and evaluate the work of non-nursing direct care providers in the operating room
• Perform endovascular, spine, neuro, ortho, and ortho trauma procedures
• Float to ASC as needed
• Work required holidays as needed
• On-call after 90 days

Requirements

• Active NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multi-state compact license
• BLS certification (AHA)
• Level I Trauma experience
• Ability to scrub (plus)
• Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans
• Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services
• Effective communication with patients, families, and hospital personnel

Preferred Qualifications

• BSN degree
• ACLS certification (AHA)
• PALS certification

Schedule

• 12-hour evening shifts (11:00 AM – 11:00 PM)
• 3 shifts per week, every other weekend
